To celebrate the new year and the seventeenth birthday of study association RealTime you are invited for the New Year’s Lecture on the 10th of January 2017 at 18:30h in the Auditorium of the Van DoorenVeste (Zernikeplein 11, Groningen). Several speakers and topics will be covered.
What is the worth of your personal data? Where are the boundaries of tapping into the phone conversations of your mother? Does privacy even exist nowadays? Dr. Titus Stahl will cover several cases on privacy, ethics and ICT.
Titus Stahl is assistant professor at the Department of Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Groningen. He studied philosophy, sociology and computer science in Frankfurt and Tübingen. He received his PhD in 2010 from the Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt and Macquarie University in Sydney as a joint PhD. Between 2010 and 2014 he worked as an assistant professor in Frankfurt. At the moment he works on a project concerning indiscriminate mass surveillance by governments and its effect on the public sphere. Titus Stahl will tell more about his research and ethics within the world of IT during his lecture.
The second lecture will be given by Evert Nijkamp MSc, lecturer of Software Engineering at the School of Communication, Media & IT at Hanze University of Applied Sciences and founder of garagerock website Grunnen Rocks. Evert Nijkamp started in 1995 with his website Grunnen Rocks. Since that time Evert Nijkamp has been a DJ at music hall VERA and is an expert on garagerock and related music genres. Evert Nijkamp will tell us more about his passion for music and ICT.
The lectures will be given in English and will be accessible for anyone!
